Material Genome Initiative

The Materials Genome Initiative (MGI) is a multi-agency initiative designed to create a new era of policy, resources, and infrastructure that support U.S. institutions in the effort to discover, manufacture, and deploy advanced materials twice as fast, at a fraction of the cost. Join us online to discuss how researchers can support the space agency’s role in the initiative.  The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) provides MGI with the unique platform of continued understanding of materials for use on launch vehicles and other infrastructure that will be exposed to extreme environments. The goals, objectives, and priorities of MGI align with NASA’s Technology roadmap 12: Materials, Structures, Mechanical Systems, and Manufacturing, specifically in the area of computational design of materials.
