Fine Particulate Workshop | The National Center for Microgravity Research |
May 5-7, 2003
Sheraton Airport Hotel
Cleveland, Ohio
Hosted by the Microgravity Science Division
NASA Glenn Research Center
And
The National Center for Microgravity Research for Fluids and Combustion
Workshop Objective
The first objective of this workshop was to identify problems associated with the control of fine particulates in a variety of closed-loop systems in the ISS and offer strategic 'life cycle management' plans applicable to reduced or micro-gravity habitation environment. The second objective was to recognize that the flow behavior of fine particulates is fundamentally altered with the absence of gravitational screening, and establish the needs to create a research environment within the NASA's framework to answer the OBPR sub-question 4a:"what research and technology development is required to enable the next generation of autonomous, reliable spacecraft human support sub-systems?"
