The Science Division at the Glenn Research Center plays an important
and vital role in implementing all Science Mission Directorate programs
and projects. We are working to realize the goals of NASA's
science missions and to ensure their success.
Radioisotope Power
Systems (RPS) Program
The Radioisotope Power
Systems Program is developing Radioisotope Power Systems that
will revolutionize space exploration using space nuclear power
for science and propulsion . These programs include the Stirling
Radioisotope Generator (SRG), Radioisotope Electric Power (REP),
Advanced Radioisotope Power Conversion Technologies, and the Stirling
Cycle Engine (SCE).
In-Space Propulsion Program
The In-Space Propulsion Program is developing
transportation technologies for orbit transfer and interplanetary
missions. Some of these projects include the Next Evolutionary Xenon
Thruster (NEXT), Hall Thruster Development, and Advanced Chemical
Propulsion.
