The ISS Research Project is carried out at the Ames Research Center (ARC), Glenn Research Center (GRC), Johnson Space Center (JSC), Kennedy Space Center (KSC) and Marshall Space Flight Center(MSFC).

Objectives:

Exploration Research: To utilize the ISS as a low technology readiness level (TRL) test bed for technology development, demonstration and problem resolution in the areas of life support, fire safety, power, propulsion, thermal management, materials, habitat design, etc.

Non-Exploration Research: To conduct research in the life (non-human) and physical sciences, not directly related to supporting the human exploration program. The program will sustain, to the maximum extent practicable, the Unites States scientific expertise and research capability in fundamental microgravity research.

Goals:
To provide ground-based and space flight hardware that will support the generation of research data for science and technology experiments.
