The targeted diseases include eye disorders such as cataract, macular degeneration, glaucoma, and retinopathy as well as systemic diseases like diabetes, brain disorders (Alzheimer's), and osteoporosis.  To accomplish this, the laboratory is developing and employing a wide range of technologies that include:
