Our Mission
The mission of the Vision Research and Human Health Diagnostics Laboratory is:

To Diagnose Diseases Non-Invasively long before the clinical symptoms appear and Help Find Non-Surgical Countermeasures using "Eye and Skin as a Window to the Body". 

 Girl with apparatusThe targeted diseases include eye disorders such as cataract, macular degeneration, glaucoma, and retinopathy as well as systemic diseases like diabetes, brain disorders (Alzheimer's), and osteoporosis.  To accomplish this, the laboratory is developing and employing a wide range of technologies that include:

  • Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) or Quasi-Elastic Light Scattering (QELS)
  • Autofluorescence
  • Laser-Doppler Flowmetry
  • Polarimetry
  • Oximetry
  • Tissue Capillaroscopy
